Professional Biography

Amanda Correro is originally from Vicksburg, Mississippi and moved to the Gulf Coast in 2009. After a brief hiatus from 2018-2020 in North Mississippi, she was ecstatic to return her family home to the Gulf Coast. She is proud to be part of the founding faculty of Barton Academy and looking forward to an amazing fourth year!  

Mrs. Correro holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Secondary Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Mississippi College and additional certification in Visual Arts.  She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Global Leadership through Troy University.  

Mrs. Correro is also Advanced Placement certified in Spanish and has extensive experience acquired over her 19 years as an educator including teaching Spanish to elementary, adult, and online learners as well as teaching Spanish and Art to high school students. Mrs. Correro has enjoyed taking students on international tours and exposing her students to the amazing culture and cuisine inside her Spanish classroom.

In addition to teaching Spanish and Art, Mrs. Correro has also coached competitive cheer and dance throughout her years in education and is certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid through the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation. She celebrated 18 years of marriage to her supportive husband, Phillip, this year and they have two beautiful daughters- Lane (10) and Georgia (7). Mrs. Correro dabbles in event planning and interior design and truly has a lifelong love for learning. She also enjoys painting, traveling, spending time with her family, good food, and good friends.
