After receiving my undergraduate degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama and working in this field for a few years, I made the decision to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. I received my master's degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Alabama and began teaching in 2003. I taught 3rd grade at John Will Elementary School. Then moved to Mary B. Austin Elementary School where I taught 1st grade, Kindergarten and 2nd grade before being offered my current position as a 6th grade science teacher at Barton Academy for Advanced World Studies. This will be my 21st year teaching and I could not be happier that I am a part of the Barton family! I am an AMSTI trained educator and became a  National Institute for STEM Education STEM certified educator in 2022. I love spending time with my family, boat riding, fishing and doing projects at my house!
